Saginaw St. Corridor Improvement Authority (SSCIA)


The Saginaw St. Corridor Improvement Authority (SSCIA) was established to oversee the strategic economic development of the Saginaw Street Corridor, a commercial corridor that runs along West Saginaw St. in the City of Lansing. The SSCIA’s sole purpose is to generate economic development and revitalization along the commercial corridor to improve the community.

Annual Report / Current Projects

·  The Saginaw Street Corridor Improvement Authority has established a marketing and communication sub-committee to take on the corridor's marketing, communications, and promotion initiatives. 


·  The Marketing and Communications sub-committee hosted a Request for Proposals (RFP)  for marketing services and selected a local marketing firm to work with the SSCIA.


·  SSCIA board members installed a landscaping project at the beginning of the corridor commonly referred to as the point. The board plans to bring on a landscaping company to maintain the site. 


·  The SSCIA worked with the Lansing Economic Development Corporation and other local partners to install the “LANSING” sign, which features six-foot-tall hand-painted letters. The letters are proudly displayed on the corner of Saginaw St. and Grand Ave. 


·  The SSCIA is working with the Lansing Economic Development and Planning Department to create an asset map showcasing the different elements along the corridor.

·  A Commercial Corridor is a major street/ passageway lined primarily with businesses and commercial activity that serves the surrounding community.


·  The SSCIA was established to oversee the strategic economic development of the West Saginaw Street. Corridor. The SSCIA’s sole purpose is to generate economic development and revitalization along the Saginaw St. commercial corridor, in hopes of increasing the corridor’s yearly tax revenue and overall activity. 


·  The Saginaw St. Corridor runs along Saginaw St. from the western city limit to Pennsylvania Avenue in the City of Lansing.
